City Park Players

Mission Statement:

To offer quality activities and experiences to the entire community through live theatre productions, programming and education.

Originally founded in the 1930's, the group celebrated its 60th consecutive season in 2008.  Unfortunately, a great loss was a part of the year, as well.  During hurricane Gustave in September a bad power surge ignited a fire which damaged much of our Little Theatre in Bringhurst Park.  The building had been constructed by members of the community and completed in 1956 on land leased from the City of Alexandria.  City officials determined that the building should be demolished and it was on October 14th of that year.

In order to fulfill our mission, we utilize the Hearn Stage space in the Rapides Foundation Building in downtown Alexandria at 1102 3rd Street.

City Park Players continues to adjust and respond to the needs of the community it serves while it celebrates the people who make up the ever changing theatre group.
