Mission Statement:
To offer quality activities and experiences to the entire community through live theatre productions, programming and education.
Originally founded in the 1930's, the group celebrated its 60th consecutive season in 2008. Unfortunately, a great loss was a part of the year, as well. During hurricane Gustave in September a bad power surge ignited a fire which damaged much of our Little Theatre in Bringhurst Park. The building had been constructed by members of the community and completed in 1956 on land leased from the City of Alexandria. City officials determined that the building should be demolished and it was on October 14th of that year.
In order to fulfill our mission, the 2010 season includes more than thirty-two (32) performances utilizing the Hearn Stage space in the Rapides Foundation Building in downtown Alexandria. City Park Players continues to adjust and respond to the needs of the community it serves while it celebrates the people who make up the ever changing theatre group. New board members have been added and through our Community Connections Initiative we partnered with nine (9) different non-profit organizations last year. We are pleased to join with The Boys & Girls Club of Central Louisiana and the Rapides Parish Public Library as our Community Connection Partners for 2010.
